Learning Disorders
What is a learning disorder?
A learning disorder occurs when someone has significant difficulty learning a specific subject in school. This can include writing, reading, and/or math. Some terms for such disorders include “dyslexia,” or “dysgraphia,” which are different ways to categorize learning disorders. IQ testing (or cognitive testing), as well as achievement testing, can be helpful to determine specifics of possible learning disorders.

ASSESSMENT PROCESS (7+yrs of age):
-1 Hour Clinical Interview
2 Hour Clinical, Cognitive & Achievement Testing
30 Minute Feedback and Report with Recommendations
*It is important to note insurance does not cover learning disorder testing. At times insurance will cover testing if the psychologist is able to obtain a prior authorization for testing. A future patient would complete the 1-hour clinical interview, to provide evidence for the need for further testing for the insurance company.
